Sheboygan County
Conservation Association

An organization dedicated to outdoor education, conservation, and protection of the environment

Howards Grove Rod & Gun Club

Organized by H.H. Johanson in 1925, this hunting, and fishing club works hard to protect the environment, but even harder at educating today's youth about our natural resources, hoping more of them will become involved, and continue these outdoor traditions.  As part of this youth education HGR&CG hosts an annual Kid's Fishing Day in the Village of Howards Grove for children 12 years old and under, provides an annual Hunters Education course, financially supports the high school Trees for Tomorrow program, and is the charter sponsor for Boy Scout Troop 825 here in Howards Grove.  In addition to these youth programs, we also installed and maintain the public fishing pier, and boat landing pier at Jetzers lake, and conduct an annual river clean up along the Pigeon River within the Village of Howards Grove.

As a member club of the Sheboygan County Conservation Association, we participate in the SCCA pheasant program, which raises, and releases about 2600 pheasants annually in Sheboygan County.  We also support the SCCA Grasslands Program, which funds grassland restoration in Sheboygan County, and the SCCA/Farm Bureau Disaster Team, which assists farmers in the event of a farm disaster.

In order to accomplish these things, annual fund raisers are held that include; a Smelt Fry (Millersville House Howards Grove Annual), a Pancake Breakfast (Millersville House Annual), and a Wilderness Shoot (1st Sunday in June at our club lands on Meadow Lark north of Orchard Rd).

Howards Grove Rod & Gun Club accepts a maximum of 50 members.  Club meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month at the Meadow Lark club house north of Howards Grove.  HGR&CG is a NRA affiliated club with annual dues of $35 for non-NRA members, and $15 for NRA members.  The club offers a shooting range which is open to all club members, and 65 acres of land which is open to the public for hunting and outdoor recreation.  Our mailing address is Howards Grove Rod & Gun Club, P.O. Box 664, Sheboygan, WI 53082-0664.
