Farmer's & Sportsmen's Conservation Club

http://farmerssportmens.org/

Clubhouse: 2412 North 44th Street, Sheboygan   (920) 452-2509
Meetings: 1st Thursday of every month

The Farmer's & Sportsmen's Conservation Club was organized on February 8th, 1938.  It was formed by a group of sportsmen, 13 in all.  All of these charter members are now deceased.  They believed something should be done to promote a better feeling between the farmer, landowner and the sportsmen.  It's main purpose has always been to conserve our limited natural resources.  The original clubhouse was dedicated on August 23, 1942.  The club celebrated it's 50th anniversary on September 11, 1988.

To join the Club you must be at least 18 years of age and a member of the National Rifle Association or join the NRA at the time of application.  There are 3 types of memberships:

The Farmer's and Sportsmen's Conservation Club received the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation Conservation Club of the Year Award in 1975 and the National Wildlife Federation Presidents Award in 1976.

Annual Raising and Releasing of PheasantsThe club currently supports the pheasant program, sponsors students to Trees For Tomorrow, holds two Hunter Safety Course every year and has a sight in day for rifle and slug guns before deer hunting season.  The Club is a charter sponsor member of Ducks Unlimited, Sheboygan Chapter, charter member of the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation and a senior club in the National Rifle Association.

The club is a sponsoring member of the Sheboygan County High School Trap League.  We were instrumental in helping the program get started.  The Sheboygan County High School Trap League Hall of Fame is located in the trap field house at the Farmer's and Sportsmen's Club.

The club has contributed to the Sheboygan Marsh Management Fund, and operated the feeding of the coho fingerlings while the coho pond was in operation.  The club has participated in a tree planting program and they also sponsor a Boy Scout Troop.

In 1972 the club donated a tranquilizer gun and all the accessories to the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department for use anywhere in Sheboygan county.  (This was to avoid the senseless killing of wild animals after they had strayed into any city limits).  In March of 1985 several club members helped construct boat access at Gerber Lake.

The Club has a Tuesday Night Summer Trap League shooting from May to August, which is shot on the 3 regulation trap fields.  We also have a Winter Skeet League which is shot on 2 regulation skeet fields on Wednesday nights January to March.  The club also has an Archery Range with League that shoots on Tuesdays in summer starting in May.  The Muzzle Loader Range is open Thursday evenings for shooting.  The Trap and Skeet fields are open to the public on Saturday and Sunday between 1:00p.m. and 4:00p.m.  The club muzzle loading members sponsor two Rendezvous, one in the winter and one in the summer.  Our annual Spring Fry has been held on Palm Sunday every year.
